Module 1: Museums as Learning Agents

 

In this module, we will:
  • explore the definition of a museum
  • reflect on the concept of museums as social learning spaces
  • reflect on the concept of museums as constructivist learning spaces
  • start planning for a museum learning experience
Also  in  this  module  and  in  this  place   i'll share  with  you  my  opinions  and  experiences. I wait  from  you  to  respond  to  my  posts. 


1.2 Museums as community centres-My activity


 This  video  was  a great  experience  for me . I  travel  with  my  students  a lot . We  always vist  museums . I  understand  that most  of the  times  they  don't understand  the  meaning  and  the  value of  exhibions. If  we ,teachers, teach  them  ,how  to react  with  the excibits  and  between each  other ,they  will feel  all the   magic world that  a museum  can provide them. I  think  that following Nina's Ideas  we  enhance  the  learning aspect  that  a museum  has  to give  to  all of its visitors  despite their age or their cognitive background

1.4 Designing a museum learning lesson plan

 

Learning Design for: The  fossils
Context
Topic: Geography
Total learning time: 135

Description:
Aims
When  the lesson  will be  completed , the  students  will  be  able to understand  the  formation  of the  fossils  and  the  meaning  of  the  fossils  in   dating rocks .
Outcomes
Knowledge (Knowledge): The students  will be  able  to  expain  the  fossils'  formation
Comprehension (Comprehension): The  students  will be  able  to  recognise  the  fossils  when  they  found  them
Synthesis (Synthesis): The  sudents  will be  able  to realize  the  meaning   of  fossils  in  dating  rocks

The  teachers  refers  the  link  of  the Greek Geology museum Goulandris  in Athens  and students   explore  the  page  of  the  museum .

The  teacher  announce  the  visit  in the  museum , which  exhibits they   have  to  pay  attention  in  and  give  them    the  theme  of  the  team  homework   after  the  museum's visit .
